The U.S. Supreme Court has issued an order allowing gay marriage to begin in Kansas, despite attempts to appeal the issue in federal court. In a one-page order released Wednesday, the High Court noted the emergency stay that was granted by Justice Sonia Sotomayor on Monday was now lifted, meaning the state can no longer continue to enforce its prohibition on same-sex marriage. The initial halt on gay marriage in Kansas came after federal Judge Daniel Crabtree last Wednesday found the state’s ban to be unconstitutional....

The Supreme Court issued a divided opinion this week in the case of Ruben Flores-Villar, a would-be citizen who was challenging, on the basis of gender discrimination, citizenship law in the United States. When Tiawanda Moore secretly taped a conversation with two Chicago police officers, she had no idea that she would soon be indicted on criminal charges under an obscure Illinois eavesdropping law. Prohibiting the recording of public conversations without permission, the statute punishes offenders with up to 15 years in prison when law enforcement is involved. On Wednesday, a jury acquitted the 20-year-old of all charges. The tape, which was played multiple times during trial, held a recording of a 4 minute conversation during which two internal investigators attempted to intimidate Tiawanda Moore into dropping a complaint against a fellow office, reports the Chicago Tribune....

Judge Judy’s son is being accused of interfering in a child rape case. Adam Levy, Judge Judith Sheindlin’s son and a district attorney in Putnam County, New York, has some strange ties to the alleged child rapist, reports United Press International. The suspect, Alexander Hossu, was charged with raping a 12-year-old girl and had been living in Levy’s home as his live-in personal trainer. Along with facing two counts of first-degree rape, Hossu, who’s from Romania, is also accused of immigration violations by staying past his visa expiration date....

One paparazzo is no longer a Belieber, as he’s suing Justin Bieber for allegedly giving him a flying karate kick to the stomach in 2012. The alleged assault began outside a mall in Calabasas, California, where Bieber and then-girlfriend Selena Gomez were driving away in his Mercedes. It somehow ended with Bieber sprinting out of his car and delivering an aerial kick to the photographer’s stomach followed by a punch to his face, reports the Associated Press....

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is reminding consumers that the recalled pistachio product list continues to expand as an agency investigatation seeks to pinpoint the source of salmonella contamination in pistachios. In late March, the FDA, supplier Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc., and retailer Kroger Foods announced two separate and large-scale recalls involving pistachio nuts and products containing pistachios, because of possible salmonella contamination. Since then, the list of pistachio product recalls has been growing steadily, with 250 products now on the FDA’s Updated Pistachios and Pistachio Products Recall List....

Months after Joan Rivers’ tragic death following a medical procedure, her daughter Melissa has filed a lawsuit against Yorkville Endoscopy Center, the New York clinic where Joan was having a routine procedure performed to remove a growth on her vocal cords. During the procedure, Joan Rivers stopped breathing for a few minutes, which is long enough to permanently damage the brain. She died about a week later, after Melissa made the decision to take her off life support....

A mom from a tony part of New York allegedly beat up her nanny who was trying to stop the mom from a DWI with a toddler in the car. Laura Bowery-Falco, a 44-year-old equestrian competitor from the Hamptons on Long Island, allegedly grabbed her nanny around the neck, threw her to the ground and attempted to punch her in the face. It all happened last week, after the nanny tried to stop Bowery-Falco from driving drunk with her 14-month-old in the car....

While he may have played God in a number of films, Morgan Freeman is being portrayed in a light that is far from holy. After a months-long CNN investigation, at least eight women have accused the star of sexual misconduct, from verbal harassment to unwanted touching. Some say his behavior was well known, while others said they never witnessed anything inappropriate and that he was always professional.
