Shaquille O’Neal is ready to launch his Shaq attack at an online store for stealing one of his many nicknames. The Las Vegas Sun reports that a licensing company for the huge basketball player is suing on his behalf against the online store called “Shaqtus Orange Clothing Co” in U.S District Court in Las Vegas. Mr. O’Neal now plays for the Cavaliers, but he was known as “The Big Cactus” and as “The Big Shaqtus” when he was playing for the Phoenix Suns....

Soulja Boy faces another lawsuit stemming from a June car accident. Of all things to be sued for following a crash, Soulja Boy now faces charges of defamation, reports All Hip Hop News. The Atlanta-based rapper allegedly crossed the double lines while driving his Bentley on a Los Angeles street and struck a Chevy Impala being driven by a pregnant woman. The pregnant woman and her partner earlier sued the rapper for medical expenses, emotional distress and physical distress....

Best-selling novelist Tom Clancy died on Tuesday in a Baltimore hospital at the age of 66. Clancy’s literary thrillers were successfully transformed into blockbuster Hollywood films, including “Patriot Games,” “The Hunt for Red October” and “Clear and Present Danger.” It’s unclear how the prolific author’s estate might be handled. The Clancy Franchise Clancy published 28 books – including a new novel, “Command Authority,” that is slated for publication this December, according to CNN....

Last week, a class action settlement between Uber and the company’s riders was approved by the federal district court in San Francisco. The ride share company was facing class action claims for deceiving riders about tipping drivers. The settlement refunds to riders all tip monies purportedly wrongly taken by the company. Angry Uber Riders The class action case was filed in January 2014 by one Uber rider that asserted that she would not have used the service if she knew that 100 percent of the 20 percent gratuity added to fares would not be given to the drivers....

Recently, consumers were notified on this blog, and at numerous other sources, that the Maclaren company had a recall placed on its folding or “umbrella” strollers. The Maclaren stroller recall came in reaction to complaints of finger-tip amputations of children who caught fingers in the stroller’s hinge mechanism. Consumer Report’s Safety Blog instituted a follow up study of some of the other folding strollers on the market which have not yet been the subject of a recall....

Yolanda King, the eldest child of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, died on Tuesday, May 15th in Santa Monica, California at the age of 51. “She was an actress, author, producer, advocate for peace and nonviolence, who was known and loved for her motivational and inspirational contributions to society,” the King family said in a statement. The founder of the Internet black market site Silk Road was arrested and appeared in federal court Wednesday for allegedly running the illicit online marketplace. Ross Ulbricht, 29, was a college graduate who not only allegedly ran a worldwide portal for illegal drug and weapon sales, but is also believed to have put out a hit on two of his former associates, the Los Angeles Times reports. Though Ulbricht has reached the end of the Silk Road, his journey through the federal criminal system is just beginning....

An insurance agent finds himself the unlikely defendant in the first Zumba prostitution trial. Mark Strong Sr., 57, of Thomaston, Maine, is accused of helping his lover, a Zumba dance instructor, run a prostitution business out of her dance studio. Strong says that the only crime he is guilty of is having an affair with the Zumba instructor and trying to help the young woman’s business, reports CBS News. While his decision-making may have been questionable, Strong’s lawyer says his actions were not illegal, reports CBS News....

After getting married to “Jersey Shore” star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi over the weekend, Jionni LaValle was in court Monday facing a DUI charge. LaValle was arrested August 7 and charged with driving under the influence, reports E! Online. In court on Monday, LaValle pleaded guilty to DUI in exchange for the dismissal of reckless driving and unsafe lane change charges he was also facing. San Diego, Riverside, and Los Angeles District Attorneys prosecuted Allstate as a result of the insurer’s ‘Accident Forgiveness’ advertising campaign. Under California law, auto insurers may not offer consumers accident forgiveness in their insurance policies. Allstate’s national advertising campaign reached California consumers and failed to clearly disclose that accident forgiveness was not available to California consumers. Now, they’ve agreed to pay a $600,000 settlement. If this sounds familiar, that’s because Liberty Mutual learned a $300,000 more expensive lesson at the hands of the same DAs for the exact same thing just over a month ago....

There are many Toyota customers who are getting red in the face over declining blue book values they feel have been caused by the recalls recently plaguing Toyota. Some are suing the carmaker over their economic loss. ABC News reports that P. Tim Howard, a Northeastern University law professor, wants to gain class action status for various lawsuits that are pending against Toyota for the dip in Toyota resale value. He told ABC News that the economic loss sustained by Toyota owners is estimated at more than $2 billion dollars in resale value....

The family of Bryan Stow, the San Francisco Giants fan left with brain damage after a brutal attack outside Dodger stadium, has sued the Los Angeles Dodgers, team owner Frank McCourt Jr., and a host of business entities affiliated with the Dodgers and Dodger stadium. The complaint alleges that Dodger stadium experiences more criminal behavior than any venue in major league baseball, and that despite knowledge of this and knowledge of the heated rivalry between the Dodgers and Giants, the Dodgers organization cut back in security at the stadium and allowed facilities like the parking lot to lapse into disrepair....

Eggs, they’re not what’s for breakfast right now. The large egg recall announced earlier in the week as been expanded and now includes a second producer. More than 1,000 people are believed to have been sickened by salmonella tainted eggs. After testing confirmed illness were associated with their eggs, Iowa’s Hillandale Farms said August 20 that it would join the recall. According to the Associated Press, Hillandale Farms has not said how many eggs it will place under recall, nor if it is connected in any way with the producer of the eggs originally recalled, Wright County Egg....

Former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell has been sentenced to two years in prison on corruption charges. The sentence was imposed today by U.S. District Court Judge James R. Spencer, reports The New York Times. McDonnell was convicted in September of accepting loans and gifts from a businessman in exchange for political favors.
