There are certain guys you will want to rob, and there are certain guys you don’t. A burglar learned the hard way that LL Cool J is not one of those you want to rob.

Los Angeles police responded to a 911 call from LL Cool J’s daughter early Wednesday, saying her father had nabbed a home intruder and was holding him downstairs in their Studio City home, reports The Associated Press.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found that LL Cool J had indeed apprehended a suspected burglar who had suffered minor bruises. The unidentified man was arrested on suspicion of burglary. LL Cool J wasn’t hurt and apparently nothing was taken.

Generally, in California, a homeowner is allowed to use significant force in self defense when an intruder breaks into his or her home. This includes force causing death or great physical injury and not just minor bruises and cuts as the suspected burglar suffered.

California’s self-defense laws, like those in many other states, basically assert that homeowners should feel safe and comfortable inside their own homes. When an intruder breaks in, the homeowner’s health and welfare is automatically presumed to be in jeopardy.

Fortunately, LL Cool J did not seriously injure his burglar. However, had he done so, it’s likely that the rapper would not have faced any legal charges.
