On Tuesday, computer maker Hewlett-Packard sued its former CEO, Mark Hurd, over Hurd’s new employment at the hardware, software and database giant Oracle. HP alleges that as Oracle’s President and a member of its board of directors, Hurd would inevitably call upon his knowledge of HP trade secrets and confidential information in order to do his job. HP claims Hurd taking the position at Oracle violates a separation agreement Hurd signed upon leaving HP, violates a trade secret protection agreement in place, and threatens misappropriation of HP trade secrets.
